365 minis painted in 2018!

Image
I am super excited to be able to say I completed my goal of averaging a mini/day in 2018! It's been a fairly absorbing task and has left me largely unable to paint for competitions, it has however hammered into the mountain of unpainted minis (particularly for boardgames). So to keep moving forward, I have a new target - 500!!! This should also mean I will have fully painted 5 boardgames this year (Space Hulk, Burning of Prospero, Mansions of Madness, Descent & TMNT: Shadows of the Past). Completed: (369 + 34 small) Space Hulk:  20xSpace Hulk door stands, Chalice, C.A.T. , 23 Genestealers Mansions of Madness: Darrell Simmons, William Yorrick, Gloria Goldberg, Carolyn Fern, Joe Diamond, Monterey Jack, Bob Jenkins, Dexter Drake, Vincent Lee, Mandy Thompson, Sister Mary, Father Mateo, Tommy Muldoon, Diana Stanley, Finn Edwards, Preston Fairmont, Carson Sinclair, Charlie Kane, Agatha Crane, Lily Chen, Minh Thi Phan, Wilson Richards, Marie Lambeau, Akeche Onyele, Rita Yo...

Horror Unleashed

I've been working hard to catch up on my mini/day target having slipped some 40 days behind schedule. Things aren't as bleak as that may initially indicate however as I've already done a lot of prep work on both my Mansions of Madness minis and Descent minis ahead of my trip to Ireland. Now that I am on that trip, I am in a position to churn out quite a number of minis pretty quickly. A lot of the monsters were painted up mostly by the airbrush during this prep stage, leaving just the finishing touches for me to do. The minis are also generally a pretty rough quality so I have no issues with being a little rough and ready in how I finish them. Having said that - you put them all together and suddenly they look pretty damn good. Of course the keen eyed among you will notice that this is not quite everything in the set... even after all this time, I'm still working on the last few monsters and investigators... stay tuned for updates. Update: Sept 3rd 2018 Mon...

In the grim darkness of the future, a marine waits... for redemption. In my previous post , I talked about how I got the super bright reds for my Blood Angel Terminators. In this piece we look at the first of the marines that I finished painting - the dead terminator. I have trawled the internet trying to find this Marine's name however I have had no success - If anyone finds out the name of this brave soldier, please let me know! I chose this figure as my test piece, allowing me to figure out the paint scheme without risking damaging the 'unit cohesion' of the actual units in the game. Any differences could be put down to this marine being from a previous era. Having gotten the base red down, I quickly painted up the throne as a simple stone throne with carvings. Drybrushing is still my favorite way to get a good stone effect, I think I should have gone a little heavier on the edge highlighting (this is also true for the armour). Once the throne was done, I ...

RoboRally

Image
As with the Ogre team, I thought I would do a look back of my RoboRally paint job. This makes for the second successfully pimped out board game after The Simpsons Cluedo that I painted up a few years ago. I think the paint job on those is a little better than these, however they have been battered a little in the time since. I should try and get some pictures up at some point but for now, here is the evolution of the RoboRally bots: Trundlebot Twitch Zoombot (that pink was a pain in the ass) Stompbot Hulk x90 (My Favorite) Spinbot Hammerbot Everyone's favorite - Twonky! As you can tell - in my rush to get the last photo, I failed to pull Hulk x90 out of the box so had to take another pic of him on his own.
